WHMIS Online Safety Training Canada is here for you. The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) was updated from the 1998 model to the 2015 system. WHMIS has aligned with the worldwide hazard communication system known as GHS - the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. Aligning with GHS provides many benefits. Its designed to provide workers with the knowledge and tools they need to handle hazardous products safely. Each of the 13 provincial, territorial, and federal agencies responsible for occupational health and safety has established WHMIS requirements for employers, workers and suppliers.
Hazardous Products Act
As of December 15, 2022, new updates to the Hazardous Products Act and regulations came into force. Suppliers are granted a 3-year transition period (to December 15, 2025) to bring product classifications, safety data sheets and labels into compliance with the amendments.

WHMIS 2025

GHS and WHMIS 2025

WHMIS/GHS Certification 2025
On December 14, 2025 new Health Canada regulations come into effect, making amendments to the previous WHMIS 2015 Hazardous Products Regulations to align with the 7th revised edition and certain provisions of the 8th revised edition of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. This new program is now known in Canada as WHMIS 2025.
