Online Forklift Training is a set of training courses to help improve a workers skill set, knowledge base, or acquire the information needed to secure a potential job. Most if not all industrial, commercial or manufacturing organisations require a forklift during work operations.

Special knowledge and training is required when developing an operators skill set. A forklift operator is responsible for the safety of everybody around them. This is due to Forklifts or Lift Trucks can move at a far speed, carry heavy loads and visibility could be minimized by said loads. 

Recognized Forklift Classes

There are 7 Classes of forklifts recognized injh industry. The are as follows as described in Google: 

Class 1: Electric Motor Rider Trucks

Features:  Sit-down or stand-up counterbalanced trucks powered by electric batteries.

Use:  Indoor warehousing and manufacturing where zero emissions and quiet operation are required.

Class 2: Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Truck

Features:  Specialized high-reach designs built for tight spaces.

Use:  High-density storage facilities. Common examples include reach trucks and order pickers. 

Class 3: Electric Motor Hand Trucks or Hand/Rider Trucks

Features:  Pedestrian-controlled (walkie) or rider-combination pallet jacks and stackers.

Use:  Short-distance horizontal transport and loading docks. 

Class 4: Internal Combustion Engine Trucks with Cushion Tires

Features:  Gas, diesel, or propane-fueled engines with solid rubber cushion tires for low clearance and tight turning.

Use:  Smooth, dry indoor industrial floors. 

Class 5: Internal Combustion Engine Trucks with Pneumatic Tires

Features: Heavy-duty gas, diesel, or propane trucks with large pneumatic (air-filled or solid rubber) tires.

Use: Rugged outdoor yards, lumber storage, and construction sites. 

Class 6: Electric and Internal Combustion Engine Tractors

Features: Tow tractors and tuggers designed to pull rather than lift loads vertically.

Use: Industrial plants, airports, and freight-hauling operations. 

Class 7: Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks

Features: Specialized tractors with massive treaded tires, rugged frames, and often telescoping booms (telehandlers).

Use: Unpaved outdoor construction, agriculture, and muddy or uneven ground

Online Forklift Training Disclaimer 

Online Forklift Training  must advise that forklift operation is a job task that is regulated by each individual province across Canada. with that being said, each individual needs to find out what the requirements are in their respective province. A great reference for this can be found at the Forklift Hub.

In British Columbia, Worksafe BC defines this in Part 16 of the OHS Regulations. in addition and with in that regulation is referenced the  CAN/CSA Standard B335-15-Safety standard for lift trucks as well as a few others. However, for this disclaimer it must be noted that Online Training could only be utilized as the Theory  based section o0f complet training. Instructor based hands on training as well as a practical exercise is mandated by law.
