Tool Box Talks

Tool Box Talks

Presented by FreeBird Safety Services, The BCCSA, and WorkSafe BC, Tool Box Talks is a collection of topics free for you to use. In addition a video format I've found Safety Meetings, Tool Box Talks, Safety Talks, Safety Topics, Full Site Safety increased worker engagement.  You can find mine here on YouTube. Most of all, hazards are always on a construction site. Assembling your crew and delivering a safety talk to them informs the crew of those hazards and the risks associated with them.  In addition, picking a topic and delivering a mini educational presentation with the help of Tool Box Talks benefits everybody.

 Tool Box Benefits

You can find these and more at Tool Box Talks. Making it most noteworthy and memorable is not to just deliver a speech. Do the opposite. Make it a performance, some drama, or recruit some foreman and conduct a small skit. The information contained in these links helps establish ways to minimize the hazards and risks. And that's what you need the crew to retain. A company can establish Due Diligence by delivering a toolbox talk on a regular basis. Workers are better informed. Especially relevant is the decrease in worker injuries, and a better-prepared crew.

One particular Tool Box Talk I delivered was a 3 fold event. I started the Full Site Safety Meeting with a site-wide evacuation drill. 200 trades and laborers evacuated a 6 story low-rise condominium site in under 5 minutes.  The day I picked to conducted this on, Day of Mourning, April 28. As a result, another 100 invited guests were in attendance. Most of all what made me particularly happy was that 6 Occupational Safety Officers from WorkSafe BC attended as well. It was an event I'm sure none will forget.
