Company Profile

This Company Profile of FreeBird Safety Services is a company description and a Genuine look at this Sole Proprietorship. Our business is Occupational Health and Safety specializing in general construction. The OHS sector is also very transferable across other industries and professions. A very notable example is, during the COVID-19 pandemic an epic number of other working professionals contracted us to conduct Respirator Fit Testing for their workers. It was the Protectors and Healers who entrusted us with their health and safety during this time. Included were the medical and dental professionals and respective workers, First Responders of the Fraser Valley, and the much needed Essential Workers who kept everything running, while the population was in full lockdown.

Company Start

Born into construction as my father was the General Superintendent for what was the Municipality of Surrey. In addition, my uncle was the District Manager of North Vancouver to Pemberton BC for the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Highways. Starting my own journey in construction at 17, I began working in the masonry trade. There I developed an exceptional knowledge base spanning the different areas of General Construction.

Starting Out

Beginning in the single-family residential sector, and in time progressing to low, medium, and high-rise developments. Expanding into Commercial, Industrial and Infrastructure, attributed to different challenges that developed into vital experiences. Developing a strong knowledge base in the legal aspects of construction safety and first aid came when I was in my 40s. I have developed a deep-rooted passion for the Occupational Health and Safety culture that is second to none. As a result, people have written great things about my services and the company I've built from scratch.

Successes

My success shows in the low injury rate of workers under my watch, well over 500 workers trained in Personal Fall Protection. In addition, a couple of thousand medical and dental professionals, plus p0rovincial and civic workers, as well as all the people from the construction industry who sought me out to conduct their Respirator Fit Testing. That's how I can be judged. This reflects greatly in my conduct as a safety professional. Certainly, reflective in my reputation for protecting workers and keeping a construction site safe. Growing continually in the safety culture, and developing a vibrant customer base is fluid throughout my company profile.

Special Attributes

Likewise, a well-structured safety system can be overwhelming while dealing with production. Rest assured, I will remove that burden from your shoulders, and it will be placed in very competent hands. Above all, when that portfolio is not a concern for the management, then production will increase. This is due to workers knowing they are protected within the company safety plan. As a result, developing solutions to an unsafe situation has always come very easy for me. While some people excel at sports, others in academics, on-site Occupational Health and Safety is where my exceptional talents are successfully utilized.

Core Values

Core Values, Code of Conduct, Conduct of a Safety Professional

FreeBird Performance Circle

The Core Values of this company are the base model for which the affair of conducting business is established. It also represents the way professionalism is shown when working within the occupation as an OH&S Professional. In accordance with the FreeBird Performance Circle, the actions on a construction site dictate nothing less. Always striving not to be the best, but to put our best forward. Treat the ones we work around with respect and understanding.

Innovation:

Accomplished through more effective procedures, processes, technologies, and forethought. an original concept of thinking. Striving to find a better solution to a problem rather than just the consumption of resources. Innovation is developing a solution to a problem that has not yet been thought of and implementing a solution.

Motivation:

Indeed the forward-thinking and action within. Particularly solving the problems of a safety issue that might be developing. Under those circumstances, being motivated generate satisfaction of not just solving a problem but coming up with the best solution.

Accountability:

Most important it's not just our moral obligation, it's also a legal obligation. Hence, to own up to and having that willingness to accept responsibility. Equally accepting the result of anything that we have done in which the outcome is less than desirable. We will always be accountable for what I am responsible for.

Genuine:

To emphasize and demonstrate being real and true, not false or fake. But sincere and honest. Being one of our highest values. Because anything less than genuine and the trades on site will not trust the safety professional. Mutual trust is the start of a well-rounded OH&S Program.

Integrity:

In general, the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. We are  OH&S Professionals with this quality inside us. Without it, we would lose the ability to care. Having Integrity gives us the ability to seek out the right decision on a safety matter.

No-Excuses Attitude:

Striving to never offer excuses. Even the mere thought of attempting to waste time thinking of an excuse for the negative result of an action is pointless. Owning up to it and fixing the issue. Then carry on discovering a better way. Accepting somebody else's idea if it makes more sense with a no-excuses attitude

Excellence:

Unquestionably the perfect way to describe how we run an OH&S Program.  Our goal is an incident and accident-free work environment. The results and journey to that point are nothing short of pure excellence.

Conclusion

These 7 CORE Values have served me and this company well. Furthermore, they have always landed us on the side of what is right and just. Altogether our CORE Values have initiated our way of conducting the duties of which we are contracted.

Duties

After all, the first duty of a safety professional is the protection of the workers' Health and Safety. Thereafter the second duty is the protection of the company who has contracted our services. Yes, they both can have negative reactions to this. Having the ability to look at a situation from outside the box and choose the correct course of action is the basis of a Safety Professional and First Aid Attendant. Sometimes production does slow for a second. Yet one of our other duties is to have a solution at our fingertips or plan in motion.
